QB Brock Purdy Thread

Completely happy with Mini Jimmy as he's been playing Jimmy football which is great football but I think Trey is going to be the guy personally.

This is the best Shanahan's offense has ever looked.

If Purdy keeps making plays like he's done the last three games, he's QB1 going into next season.

How is this even a discussion?

Mini Jimmy? Nope. Brock navigates the pocket better, extends plays better, and the biggest difference - will look for the big play instead of defaulting to the safe one. One similarity they share is both get injured in limited play.

It's kind of crazy when you consider about how valuable experience Purdy has been able to garner in just 3 games. He's the first rookie QB ever to win a game against the GOAT in his first start. Then he goes to Seattle, where only ONE 49er QB has won in the last decade, and beats them to win the division with a f**ked up oblique/ribs.

Washington will be another tough test where he's going to have to make quick decisions with the football and get it out of his hand fast.

The fact we spent 3 first round picks on Trey is at the very least enough to give him a chance at competition. Do you really suggest we get rid of him without giving him a chance to compete after seeing 3 games from Brock? That's dumber than giving Jimmy $120 million after just 5 games.

He deserves a chance to compete, nothing more.

If Purdy shows that he is capable of being the guy then who gives a crap about draft position. It's a sunken cost at this point.

If Kyle decides that Purdy gives them a better chance of winning a SB in the near future and Lance is still going to require a lot of growing pains before he possibly reaches his ceiling, hand Lance a clipboard and LFG!

The schedule has also be super friendly. Comes off bench - no film on him. Next week, TB has a short week + long travel. And then a quick turnaround for a reeling SEA team. Now extra rest in a short week + long travel for WAS. Then two teams that are eliminated.

i find it hilarious that no matter what Purdy does moving forward this season and post-season some posters are pounding the table that Lance should automatically be named the starter next season because of his draft cost and/or theoretical ceiling. if the Niners win the SB behind Purdy, he will have earned the starting QB position next season.

he shouldn't be named starter and a competition will be held.. but the way Purdy is playing and if he continues playing well.. He should win that competition next year

but it's all too early still

And Trey will change his name to Gino Smith and be Purdy's back up for the next 10 years.

#9 on defense. Another good test for Purdy.

Yeah, I just don't think anyone is entitled to anything. I think players have to capitalize on their opportunities. Brock had a sense of urgency behind him and wanted to make the most of every opportunity he got.

of course ir sucks to lose those picks but I personally don't think that's a good enough reason to take out a player who currently gives the team the best chance to win.

of course Trey should always be competing, even if there isn't a formal "open competition". He should always be trying to get that starting job. If he actually thinks that it's his rightful spot strictly because of draft picks? Then Lance would be in serious trouble. (Not saying he thinks that Or that you're saying he does, just talking in general)

That is a definite exaggeration. If Purdy wins the SB... hells yah Purdy going forward. But to even try and equate the draft capital of Lance vs possible Linsanity with Purdy, come on now. Personally I hope Purdy is the next Brady, they enter the offseason with a QB "competition" and yet we still have both no matter how it pans out
